NO Pharmacological Properties
Nitric oxide (NO) is a key signaling molecule in the body with several critical functions:
- Vasodilation: NO relaxes blood vessel walls, improving blood flow, reducing blood pressure, and enhancing oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues
- Immune Response: NO helps immune cells fight infections by targeting pathogens and regulating inflammation.
- Neurotransmission: In the brain, NO acts as a neurotransmitter, facilitating communication between neurons and supporting memory and learning
- Platelet Regulation: NO prevents excessive blood clotting by inhibiting platelet aggregation
- Muscle Function: NO supports muscle relaxation and repair, particularly in skeletal and smooth muscles
- Antioxidant Properties: NO can neutralize harmful free radicals, protecting cells from oxidative stress.

Nitric Oxide Chemistry
Nytricx Technology is based on embedding a nitrogen oxide donor in a suitable polymer which is released in a sustained fashion when exposed to heat, light, or moisture.

Fiber-Optic Nitric Oxide - Releasing Technology
- Intensity of the light controls the release of NO
- NO release mimics naturally produced NO in the body
- Less toxicity risk versus antibiotics or silver coatings
- Effective against a broad spectrum of pathogens without fostering resistance
- Similar to fiber-optic technology used in diagnostics procedures
